How do I treat a possible fungus (white spots) on my arms and legs?

They are flesh with the skin, not raised, not dry or flaky. The spots are approximately the size of a kernal of corn. Sometimes itchy. How do I treat a possible fungus (white spots) on my arms and legs?
The fungus is likely candida albicans (yeast). There is some basic info about it on www.hufa.org, which is good to know because it can develop into a systemic condition (ask me about mine).

My white spots are not itchy, and I am assuming they are depigmentation (vitiligo). I am on a candida cleanse regimen of diet and herbal supplements and vitamins. I am also diabetic. I understand that candida grows better in bodies that have some sort of imbalance (endocrine, immune, etc.)How do I treat a possible fungus (white spots) on my arms and legs?
You see i have the same thing But all my doc said it was a fungal infections.

If not raised spots, it's called, ';Vitiligo.'; It is a skin condition and there are theories of how people get it. It could be an oveactive thyroid, known for onset of stress and hereditary. It is a common skin disorder known as Leukoderma in which symnatrical white or pale macules appear on the skin. I have it too and so did my 2 younger brothers.

Just look up Vitiligo and it will tell you what meds are available/treatments.
There is a fungus that causes white spots on the skin. It is harmfless except for the not so nice looking white spots. It can be treated with certain chemicals such as miconazole and clotrimazole. Their application can remove the fungus in a couple of weeks but the discolouration can take a few months to go away. Also a single dose of ketoconazole can cure it but same the white spots will remain for some months. This fungus usually affects the back, neck and chest, and in some people the arms.
My husband and his sister and our daughter has them on their arms and legs. They are called seed warts. They are nothing to worry about unless they become raised. Then they are skin cancer. My husband can scrape his off after a shower. He has had the raised ones removed because the just get bigger and become painful. They were squamous cell carcinoma when they got big. It is a type of skin cancer that if left untreated can get into your blood stream and attack your other organs. The Dermatologist uses nitrogen to burn them off until they get bad enough to cut them out. If caught early then they don't have to be burned off. It is from too many hours working in the sun over 20 years. But the seed warts he was born with. See a dermatologist or your family physician or the health dept.
Sounds like Tinea Versicolor. Easy to get rid of but the white patches may look white until your tan fades. Some easy over the counter remedies are using selsun blue shampoo on the areas, lather up and leave it on for 5 minutes every time you shower. The fastest way to treat the areas is with a prescription fungus cream, it is usually applied 2 times daily for 6 to 8 weeks and then the scaling on the areas should be gone. Dermatology is a visual field so make sure you see a doctor who can diagnose you correctly, white spots can be a bunch of different things so just remember that nobody can diagnose you without looking at the spots.
I have the same thing and I can't seem to get rid of it. Let's hope we get an answer for this problem. And yes, it is fungus, I had it biopsied and that is what they said. Plantar Lichen, that is what I think they said it was. Good luck!

How long does athlete's foot fungus survivie on hard dry surface?

Just wondering how long it survives if someone with athlete's foot has stepped barefoot around the house, particularly on hard dry surfaces. How long does athlete's foot fungus survivie on hard dry surface?
From what I have read, I don't think the fungus can survive long on hard dry surfaces. The website below, compiled by doctors, suggests going barefoot at home to help get rid of athlete's foot, so I guess the risk of spreading it that way must be regarded as minimal.

Incidentally if you are having trouble getting rid of athlete's foot, try neat tea tree oil. I had a ringworm (which I understand is a related fungus) on my hand a few weeks ago and it was resistant to two creams prescribed by the doctor and athlete's foot cream, but tea tree oil cleared it up no bother.

What are the dangers of foot fungus? is it dangerous if it gets in the air ?

And i think my bed is contaminated since i twist and turn at night,

i'm washing my bedsheets.

Now my body is feeling itchy, can foot fungus cause that ?What are the dangers of foot fungus? is it dangerous if it gets in the air ?
Not likely the cause of your itchy body.I do know that after touching your foot with your hands you should never touch your genital area - because fungus likes to live in damp dark places. After showering wipe your feet last and put the towel in the laundry . Use Tinactin or something to kill the fungus.

Does anyone know what will heal this up that isn't too expensive? What can I do for this fungus in my fingernail?

How is a fungal nail infection treated?

Several medicines can treat a fungal nail infection. Some of these medicines are not safe for people who have liver problems or a history of congestive heart failure. Be sure to let your doctor know if you have one of these conditions. Your doctor will decide which medicine is right for you.

You might only need to take the medicine for 6 weeks. You might need to take it for 6 months, or longer. It depends on where the infection is and how bad it is.

Topical treatments, or creams and polish that you apply to the top of your nail, are also available. Topical medicines alone usually do not cure nail infections.
well, dont take anything for your fingernail not prescribed. go to the doctor. there was once this commercial to help that....its the one where the fungus lifts the fingernail and crawls inside it...then it turns yellow, and it makes it all better with the medicine
Go to the doctors and they will prescribe you some antibiotics. You should clean them regulary with a gental soap and some warm water. It works. Good luck! :)
Well, if you haven't told your parents I would tell them...........but if you have i would recommend a Doctor. If you I am sure he will have something to do with that fungus
I had the same thing happen to me with on of my acrylic nails, it came loose from my natural nail and developed a slight fungus. I went to my nail salon and bought a product called Fungus Fix, I have been using it twice a day for about two weeks and it is much better. Although if it is extremly bad this may not work it may take a doctor to heal it. This is just a suggestion. The cost is around 16.00.
THE REALLY ISN'T ANY TOPICAL (ON THE SURFACE) YOU CAN REALLY USE.THE ONLY THING THAT WILL CLEAR IT UP IS LAMICIL.THE DR HAS TO GIVE IT TO YOU.YOU WILL ALSO HAVE TO GET BLOOD TESTS EVERY SO OFTEN TO MAKE SURE THE MEDICINE DOES NOT HAVE A BAD EFFECT ON YOUR LIVER.
Go to a nail salon. They sell a product to use at home.
Vicks Vapo Rub works very well

How do I get a mushroom/fungus problem out of my Green Anole Tank?

I have four green anoles, two males and two feamales in a separet tank so the guys dont fight. In one side, It is completely clean of fungus, but on the other I keep getting these little white mushroom things under and above ground. I keep removing them and they keep coming back! How do I get rid of it and will it effect my anoles? How do I get a mushroom/fungus problem out of my Green Anole Tank?
I am not sure if you have a glass tank or not, but glass with a screen top with clips is best. I have had several types of reptiles, (anoles, tree frogs, tiger salamander, gecko). When I would do a full clean up of the tanks I had gotten special tank cleaners from the local pet store they usually carry it in fish or reptile section. Sorry cannot remember the name, but if you ask they should know what it is, also the product does not carry any chemicals that can harm your pets or linger in the tank. Your tank maybe too moist on the one side and dark or not enough ventilation or heat for their basking areas are suppose to be 85F to 90F and day time area temps 72F to 82F rest of tank, it's hard to tell. Now I know green anoles are suppose to have some humidity, so maybe an overhaul of your tank is need or a new tank. Hopefully this will help a little. How do I get a mushroom/fungus problem out of my Green Anole Tank?
The problem will usually occur because of the humidity, which they need. The only real way to completely stop the problem while keeping the humidity is to change the substrate more often so it doesn't have time to grow. The substrate should be changed every 2 weeks. Usually that doesn't give it time to grow. If you are changing it every two weeks try occasionly shifting the substrate wround by stirring it with your fingers and not getting the substrate quite as damp. As long as your humidty is over 70 they should be fine. It doesnt have to be 90 or anything.

Should I take my plants out While Treating my tank for Fungus?

I have a small amount of fungal growth in my tank. I have live plants, should I take them out? It doesn't say on the bottle if it is safe for plants or not?Should I take my plants out While Treating my tank for Fungus?
Definitely a good question but no you shouldn't. Although it seems like it would be a bad idea to medicate the plants taking them out would be worse when you uproot them. Also plants do not take in medicine the way we do so unless there is repeated exposure they should be fine. Good luck!Should I take my plants out While Treating my tank for Fungus?
Fungus in your tank or on your fish? If it's just in your tank it may be hair algae which should go away on its own once phosphates normalize. Or it may be this white stringy stuff that grows on driftwood, your fish may eat it and either way it doesn't harm them. I've never heard of treating fungus in your tank with medication... only fish, and if you have a fish medication that you're adding without it being needed that's a VERY bad idea. Any chemicals you add can harm or kill your fish, so I suggest not adding it. Scrape the fungus off by hand.
That is a good question. I am currently treating one of my tanks for fungal infections, but it hadn't occurred to me to take plants out first! Having said that, even if you removed the plants, any fungus could still remain on them, so probably not a good idea to put them back in the tank anyway, imo. But what would I know? I'm a relative novice at fish-keeping. Good luck
i would definitely take them out. some medications are harmful to plants. if you planted the roots well in a small plastic container and let them grow there then removing and replanting them will be a breeze. and to the other question the guy ask earlier fungus staying on the plant, well fungus grows on a specific environment removing the plant and flushing and letting them stay with safe clean water for 3-6 hours max (preferably a day old chlorine free) will weaken the fungus eventually killing them when you put them back in the tank. hope that helps :)
