How do you get rid of fungus gnats?

I re-potted my little plants after the first attack, after washing them with antibacterial soap, but now the gnats are back. What can I do to stop their growth in the meantime? What kind of poison should I get? What kinds of poison are used to kill them? How do you get rid of fungus gnats?
Fungus gnats are a symptom of too much water. With correct watering fungus gnats should never be a problem.

Try killing them in 2 stages (adults and larvae). Adults are flying around and larvae are in the soil. Use Shultz Houseplant Spray to kill the adults.

You can kill the larvae by drying out the soil--the plants can take dry better than the larvae. Let the soil ball dry completely out before watering. Then water moderately and if any water end up in the saucer under the plant dump it. (Never let water in the saucer for you plants to stand in.) Then let it dry out completely again. Do this process 3-4 times and you should kill off the larvae.

Once they are dead only water the plants when the top is dry to the touch and water moderately and again, dump the saucer if water ends up in it. Correct watering practices should keep them away. How do you get rid of fungus gnats?
any insecticides that is mixed with water should be fine to use as (if it is an edible make sure you are using a product that is labeled for edibles)..you can even dilute it down a couple of times of what the label calls for, then water the plants with it at watering time... there is a Bt product that will only kill the larvae down in the soil thus breaking the life cycle
