How do you get rid of foot fungus?

My brother's got it real bad, and he doesn't seem to want to do anything about it. Is there some medical treatment for it besides fungal cream? How do you get rid of foot fungus?
I roommate wtih a guy whos feet smelt like a cross between a skunk and rotten fish, I dreaded 5pm when he would take off his work boots. He tried a few over the counter sprays, etc. to no prevail. One weekend I decided something needed to be done, because the odor would fill the whole house! I took a plastic tub filled it with hot water and dumped 1/8 of gallon of Landry detergent bleach in it. Then I made him sit and watch TV with his feet in the tub for about an .5 hour. Its been 3 years since that day and he he is truly grateful because the smelly feet syndrome went away!! God, that smell is burned into my memory, it made the whole house smell!!How do you get rid of foot fungus?
Use Lamisil AT or Tinactin anti-fungus cream or spray.
soak your feet in salt water
Why not a cream? You should make sure, first of all, that it really IS a 'fungus'! There are tons of skin ailments, and if you treat for a fungus, and it is not a fungus, then whatever it really is will go untreated, and might get worse. If you are positive it is a fungal infection, you can begin by getting an OTC (over the counter) anti-fungal cream---anything that says ';antifungal';..just look for, or ask the pharmacist for, a cream to treat ';athlete's foot';. Tinactin (brand name) also comes in a spray, I think.BUT, if itching, burning and scaling of the skin persists, GET THEE TO A DOCTOR!!
Break out the ol' Absorbine Jr. It's refreshing to the dogs!
Poor tons of talcom powder in his shoes and socks when he's not around.
Tough actin', Tinactin! (ala John Madden)
Yes, there is all kind of prescription creams and ointments that will work wonderfully. The OTC cream Lamisil is pretty good, but looks like he's tried it. Remember that you have to use it continuously for a while, even after the fungus appears to be gone.

Goodluck
He should avoid moisture , use open sandles to get maximum air to the foot.Fluconazole 150mg/ once a week is very effective, also local application of nystatin cream is really effective.Wash his feet with antifungal soap twice a day
Soak them in tubs of bleach for 30 minutes per day for 10 days. Afterwards, treat with aloe vera.
