How do you identify fungus on a camera lens?

I have an old Minolta Rokkor telephoto lens with some faint marks on it. How can I determine if it is fungus? How do you identify fungus on a camera lens?
The best thing to do is to look through a lens with a bright light shining through it while the aperture is open.

Fungus generally appears as clusters of hair-like fibers. How do you identify fungus on a camera lens?
You could take a picture of it.
Lens fungus is a plant, and it looks like a plant growing across the lens element.

It's most often found on internal elements where moisture collects and can't dry out.

If the marks are on a front or back element and they look like streaks, they are cleaning marks.
