How long does foot fungus last outside of the human body?

For lack of a better example, say someone keeps their money in their shoe, then gives you $100 of it, and you notice he has bad athletes foot and god knows how much else. If you were to leave that money on a shelf somewhere, how long would any of the fungi last? Is it safe to handle with bare hands after say 3 days? A week? Would spraying the money with Lysol be enough to prevent transmission?

You could also try a spray bottle with a little chlorine bleach in it. This will also be very effective in cleaning the shower pan where the person might have walked barefoot.
