How do i cure fungus on my japanese weeping maple tree?

I do not see any bugs on the leaves of my tree and it's dying from the top down. How do i cure fungus on my japanese weeping maple tree?
How are you watering your tree? Do you use a soaker hose and water the soil, or are you using a sprayer that wets the leaves?

When do you water? Do you water in the evening, just before dark? Or do you water in the middle of the day? Early morning?

If you are using a spray and wetting the leaves, and are watering in the evening, you could have mildew or fungus. If spray watering in the midday, you are burning the leaves, the water on the leaves act as magnifying glasses and focus the hot sun and burn the leaves.

You should be using a soaker hose and watering early in the morning, deeply once to twice a week, depending on how dry your climate is. If you are in a wetter climate, once a week may be too much. They like moist soil, but well drained.

Other than that, I would take some of the leaves to your local nursery and ask the plantsmen there. They should be able to tell what is going on.How do i cure fungus on my japanese weeping maple tree?
with no bugs and only a few branches involved, I'd suspect Verticillium Wilt......

but do get either an arborist to look at the tree or consult with someone from your County Extension office for good info... they'll be able to actually LOOK at the tree or a sample and will tell you much better.....
